The Wall Art Gallery brought together eight artists from the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions in a group exhibition titled “The Destruction of the Earth Pierced the Heavens” for art enthusiasts.

The exhibition, curated by Hesen Chalak, featured works by Abdul Vahap Uzunbay, Erdoğan Kaplan, Eyhan Çelik, Ferhat Salman, Hesen Chalak, Mahmut Akdemir, Onur Erten, and Yakup Kuyucu.

The exhibition revealed the ongoing destruction of nature in different layers of our living spaces and the inevitable destructive effects this destruction brings. The works produced by the artists with different techniques and forms of expression drew attention to the increasingly fragile relationship between humans and nature.

The works, which brought together the different perspectives of eight artists, addressed the transformation of natural life, lost habitats, and the traces of destruction on humans, animals, and the environment with a multi-layered narrative.

“The Destruction of the Earth Pierced the Heavens” invited viewers to confront the destruction occurring around them and to rethink their relationship with nature. The exhibition, held parallel to the Istanbul Biennial, met with audiences between September 14 and October 25, 2022, at The Wall Art Gallery's historical venue in Karaköy.
