Merve Kaya
BIOGRAPHY
Merve Kaya Okursoy was born in Izmir in 1994. After graduating from Dumlupınar University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2017, she completed her education in the Department of Art and Design at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Institute of Social Sciences in 2021. In addition to developing herself in painting, she works on interdisciplinary art practices such as printmaking, photography, video, sound art, and installation.
ARTIST STATEMENT
In her artistic process, Merve Kaya Okursoy addresses the indicators of alienation that have characterized the modern individual and consciousness for several centuries due to industrial dynamics. She examines the modern individual characterized by observations of the era. She discusses this situation through her artistic productions in various disciplines, observing that the modern individual drifts into an isolated way of life.
