GRAVITY PROJECT
The modern person's tendency to perceive the world around them consists of a complex of sensations. The most important of these are feelings of loneliness and loss, the desire to find ideals that unite society, goals, and new – forward-looking – heroes.
In our era, there is a yearning for great achievements in all areas of human activity. The Old World, weary with a multitude of problems and archaic attitudes, is small and inconvenient. It resembles an old, eclectic building with crumbling plaster, broken window frames, and a decaying ceiling. It is like a rotten tooth that has long awaited replacement. As Friedrich Nietzsche said, humanity is something that must be overcome.
There is a need for a new hero, a Titan, a kind of Superman who can cleanse the old world and illuminate everyone's path with a bright light. As seen with characters from the Marvel universe, Ridley Scott's film "Prometheus," and similar examples, various reflections of such hero visualizations are increasingly appearing in popular culture.
According to Sergei Dovlatov, gravity is a relative concept: something floats in the sky while something else is strongly affected by atmospheric pressure.
Artist Novikov's "Gravity" project, featuring characters that are very reminiscent of humans but are not actually human , visualizes human aspirations. Here, the ability to control objective laws of physics by rising into the air is subject to the New Hero. These omnipotent figures are of colossal size and are often depicted floating in the air. With their radiance, they break through the laws of physics and clear the debris of the old world.
